Complete 11 page APA formatted essay: The Sight of Sound: Visual Culture and Popular Music. From the minute that MTV broadcast its first video, the responsibility and cultural implications of music had changed. the MTV broadcast was not the first time that popular music was combined with a visual presence. However, that moment changed the course of the development of talent within the music industry, thus influencing the direction that music would need to go to support the new medium. Music has now developed into a multi-media experience, the visual representations of the music as important as the music itself. The influence on culture has not been wholly positive with the influences of angry, rebellious narratives giving rise to a dehumanizing message. Whatever the consequences, popular music has changed so that a visual representation of drafted music influences the culture towards participating in purchasing the music in order to also purchase the style, attitude, and fashion of the visual representation.

Complete 6 page APA formatted essay: Threats to Forest Ecosystems. The Agenda 21 highlighted the need to alleviate poverty, change methods of production and consumption and addressing various issues to promote sustainable development. In this light let us review the efforts of some of the rich and poor countries of the world towards protecting our environment (Earth Summit, 1997).According to the National Atlas of the United States (2000), United States is a country rich with forests. About one-third of the country is covered with forests which comprise about 747 million acres of the land. Fortunately, to some extent, the country has been able to preserve its forests for the past 100 years. This has been primarily due to reversion of marginal farmland in the east, increased plantation in the south and control over forest fires. However, the country has faced problems due to urbanization, increased agriculture, reservoir construction and natural disasters. Approximately 48 lower states of America have experienced deforestation due to human interruption to such an extent that forests have lost their originality. With the increase in the population, there has been a significant loss of the original forest and the current situation shows that the century-old forest covers only 7% of the forest area.In the east, the forest covers about 384 million acres area and includes broadleaf and coniferous forests. In the west, the forest covers an area of 363 million acres of predominantly coniferous trees. A lot of forest area is owned by private people as well. About 10 million people own about 422 million acres of forest area (National Atlas of the United States, 2000).Nogueroun (2002) states that forests in the United States have played a major role in boosting the country’s economy. Forests are used for the production of timber and nontimber products such as medicinal herbs, berries, mushrooms. Timber industry relies totally on Forests.

Complete 4 page APA formatted essay: Challenges for Immigrant Children and their Parents. There are several factors involved in the challenges that immigrant children and their families face. The influx of immigrants and their children are so great that the child welfare services are swamped by these sheer numbers on one side, and on the other side, there is the lack of ability in child welfare services to understand and meet the requirements of the immigrant children. Another factor in the well-being of the immigrant children and their families is the legal status of the immigrants, as different statuses carry with it the deriving of different levels of benefits and services. Another important challenge for immigrant children and their families is the lack of proficiency in the English language, as nearly all of the immigration come from countries, where there is limited exposure to the English language. This deficiency is likely to lead to the family falling in the low-income group, with the accompanying issue of the poor health status of the children.Understanding the challenges of immigrant children can be derived from the stages of migration framework, and the critical variables involved in it, and the factors that have an impact on each stage of migration. Factors that impinge on the different stages of migration include age, family background, urban or rural background, socioeconomic background, occupation, religion, and social support. The premature stage or the departure stage, transit or immediate stage, resettlement stage, and return to the country of origin stage make up the four stages in the stages of migration framework. This framework provides an understanding on the challenges that are faced by immigrant children and their families, which are important for child welfare social workers.

Complete 4 page APA formatted essay: REFORMING THE NATION, RESPONDING TO WAR, FAMOUS SPEECHES.The war had far-reaching effects in all aspects of the lives of the German people both politically, economically, socially, culturally and environmentally. There were tremendous changes in the culture of the German people after the First World War. The Nazis developed a belief that individuals were not important and what they needed was a strong government. An ideology was developed that women were to be trained for childbearing and home keeping while men were to be equipped with military and working skills (Roberts, p.46). These beliefs brought about a lot of changes in the way of life, education system, and culture of the German people. In the post world war one Germany, all learning institutions become single sex. Ladies and young men were given different forms of training. The different trainings offered ensured ladies did not have careers but become housewives after marriage. Young people in schools sung about aggression, brutality, and anti-Semitism. Young people were encouraged to play with guns and take pleasure in fighting. During that period, women were encouraged to have more than four children and those who complied were awarded gifts. The lives of women were to revolve around “family, church and food preparation”. In addition, they were expected to shy away from smoking and wearing makeup. A lot of ideals were also developed for German households. In contrast to how women were treated, young boys were trained majorly in science and arithmetic. Their training involved a lot of physical exercises, and it was compulsory that they join the labor service at the age of eighteen. The work there was mainly blue-collar which ensured that men toughened up for the military. It was after that a requirement that every man serve in the military for two years before joining the workforce (Roberts, p. 46). Women were laid away off their jobs to create chances for men. After the war, many soldiers believed

Complete 3 page APA formatted essay: Happiness Ancient and Modern.Aristotle, the greatest of all philosophers, stressed upon the need to lead a life of virtue, and Stephen Augustus White in his book Sovereign Virtue, says that Aristotle was adamant that ‘in any circumstances, the virtuous, find life more satisfying than other people do” and make better lives for themselves in spite of their “modest good fortune.”(Page xi) According to Aristotle’s theory on happiness, he says that in order for a human being to achieve a state of happiness, he has to achieve the happiness that is most suited for a human being. In his opinion, happiness is not just a state of mind but it is a sort of disposition that involves our activities and experiences throughout our lives. The ancient view of happiness was shaped by the usefulness of man for his fellow beings, and based itself on such abstract qualities as ‘wisdom, kindness and goodness” .&nbsp.Moreland and Issler find that the modern view of happiness is nothing more than instant gratification, and very often this depends upon the attitude of others towards us. Other modernists often equate happiness in the modern world to what we do and the road we take towards achieving predetermined goals. Davies’ take on happiness is right in the sense that happiness comes to us from the things we do, but the modernists don’t agree with the fact that analyzing emotions can make us happy.&nbsp. Happiness accrues from the frequency with which we flood our lives with simple pleasurable moments, than from those which are intense, but few and far in between.&nbsp.&nbsp.

Complete 1 page APA formatted essay: Describe the difference between ordinary and non-ordinary states of consciousness. However, the constant parameter is that an individual is within a state of consciousness that is considerable as normal, habitual and ordinary (“States of consciousness, n.d).On the other hand, a non-ordinary state of consciousness refers to an alteration from our ordinary consciousness status. An example is day dreaming which differs from an ordinary state that is characterized by limitations in the level of imagination. In addition, the status of day dreaming is not an aspect of logical thinking. Fantasies are also an example of non-ordinary consciousness state as a person pictures a situation which is beyond the present reality and partakes in thought processes that are not part of his or norm. Hence, illustrating the difference between the two states as one is logical, habitual and within normal logical reasoning whereas the other is a stretch of reality and would not be carried out by an individual on a constant basis (“States of consciousness,
